My 360 Degree Perspective of the Educational World
People's perspective limits what is seen because they view a situation from an isolated, singular angle. God orchestrated my life, that I experienced struggles from all angles.
Personally: At the age of 47 I discovered that I was dyslexic. It explained my struggles throughout school and areas that I continue to struggled. It takes me five to ten times longer to complete a task than my peers. Then, the judgement for misspellings or errors. An educator with a doctorate making such careless mistakes, chalking them up to laziness.
Parent: My son has ASD, dysgraphia, and dyslexia.
Middle School Teacher: I taught middle school for 17 years an witness the angst of intelligent students who hated school and reading. I taught primary school and saw the joy of learning for all children.
Primary School Teacher:
Professional Development Facilitator:
Professor of Curriculum in a Graduate School of Education
Wilson Reading Practitioner
Currently, I am a curriculum designer and graduate school professor, a dyslexia practitioner, educational consultant, professional development provider, and a special education advocate.
These experiences have provided me with a panoramic view of the issues students, parents, and teachers face. Additionally, it have provided me insight on the practices of schools which cause students to fall through the cracks.
We rise by lifting each other up.
There is no greater joy than to help others through a Vacuum Moment, teaching them how to break the chains of fear, empowering them through knowledge, being the voice for those that cannot speak for themselves in order to unleash human potential.
It is a privilege to serve others, who are lost in a sea of despair and watch them find their warrior from within and their voice.
Each day, trying to be the change I want to see in the world, remembering, every interaction we have with others either gives or sucks energy.
Nothing is worse than the feeling of hopelessness. When your soul is tired. When life turns it's back on you, your world is turned upside down, and there is no sense of normalcy.
Today's culture permits the unspoken if. Promises and commitments are fulfilled if it is convenient. Friends will help out if they are not too tired. People will support you and stand by your side if it does not cause them adversity.
I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the pond and create a lot of ripples. -Mother Teresa
